Should You Go to the Dentist Every Month?

July 28, 2025

While it’s important to maintain regular dental checkups, visiting the dentist every month is typically unnecessary for most people. The American Dental Association recommends seeing your dentist every six months for a routine cleaning and exam. This schedule allows your dentist to monitor your oral health, catch any issues early, and ensure your teeth and gums stay healthy.

However, some individuals, especially those with gum disease, braces, or other specific dental conditions, may need more frequent visits. In such cases, your dentist might recommend additional cleanings or treatments to better manage your condition and prevent further complications.

For most patients, visiting the dentist every six months is sufficient. In between visits, it’s important to maintain a good oral care routine at home: brush twice a day, floss daily, and use mouthwash as needed.

At Schwimmer Dental, we’re committed to helping you maintain a healthy smile with personalized care in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
